My new writing adventure!
As you may know, I have five published books, all of which are a little different. I’ve got a legal drama (Mother of the Accused), a Hallmark-style romance (The Santa Games), and a new book which explores neurodiversity through the eyes of a non-verbal autistic character (Home). Fun Lessons is pure rom-com and Their Last Chance explores the divorce process through a multi-viewpoint novel involving a divorce reality television show. I am proud of all these book babies as well as of the fact that I am able to write in different genres.
The above said, with my last completed manuscript – a romantic comedy with senior protagonists – I am making a pivot. As much as I love my “relationship fiction” novels, I’d like to streamline my writing into one genre. I adore writing humor and am a huge fan of shows like The Later Daters and The Golden Bachelorette. So…..my new genre: Golden Rom Coms. I love this idea because, let’s face it, who doesn’t root for seniors to find love? And older protagonists are rich with good back stories from well lived - and not well lived - lives. Plus, older folks can be funny. I know my characters will be. Works in progress (or that will be in progress) include titles like The Oldfluencers, The Sucker List, and The Second Chance Talent Tour.

Book one -Why Not? - is completed and going out on submission to agents. Here’s a sneak peak:
At 72, flashy, funny Southern Belle Ellie Moore has sworn off love—especially after her ex-husband remarried and she got swindled by a romance scammer. But when a cruise line mistake forces her to share a stateroom with a grumpy, routine-obsessed retiree named Mark Moore (no relation), Ellie finds herself in the middle of a romantic comedy she never asked for. As their cruise turns unexpectedly thrilling—complete with counterfeit watches, tropical excursions, and a fake-grandparent cover story—sparks fly, and so do secrets. Ellie must decide if she’s willing to trust again, while Mark must finally confront the past he’s tried to hide. Why Not? is a heartwarming, hilarious story about second chances, unexpected love, and saying yes to life at any age.
